About The Moriccianis

Casa Moricciani is owned and managed by Carlo and Isabella Moricciani. Owners also of Le Casine di Castello in Castelmuzio, they have fallen in love with this most enchanting community and know that they would like to live there someday. With this goal in mind, they purchased Casa Moricciani in 2004 and now have lovingly restored this perfectly located property overlooking the Tuscan countryside to be their future home.

Casa Moricciani is truly the future home of Carlo and Isa that is offered to their guests to enjoy today. It has been designed to capture the refined traditions of Tuscan decor and structure, but also includes the technology, luxury, and comfort of modern living. Their passion for a blend of antiques, sophisticated colors, fine fabrics and linens, and comfortable furnishings are evident in every room. You will find the genuine warmth and comfort of staying in someone’s home, rather than the sterile beauty of a domicile developed for others.

Their mission: To simply give "the best" to the guests of Casa Moricciani.

And "the best" to Carlo and Isabella means to feel, to see, to taste, to smell, to hear, and to integrate with the beautiful and meaningful traditions of this particular part of Tuscany—the Val d’Orcia and the Crete Senesi. They provide their guests with exclusive, authentic experiences—those hidden, non-touristy expressions of the territory and its culture.

A Little More About The Moriccianis

A close friend, when first visiting Casa Moricciani's location, said to Isabella, "This place is the perfect union of the earth and sky—just like the union of you and Carlo!" What a wonderful and accurate observation!

Carlo is a true man of the earth—some would say he is the "salt of the earth." He grew up working on the family farm in Pienza, and went to school in Siena and studied agriculture—it has been his passion always. Today, he continues to farm many hectares of land (grapes, olives, wheat, barley, and fava beans).

Carlo also has become a specialist in the olive oil and wine-making businesses. He recognized his special senses of taste and smell, and so he studied to be an olive oil tasting expert. He is an official olive oil tester in Siena, serving on a panel that evaluates and approves the quality of the region's olive oils. His vineyards of fine Sangiovese grapes are expertly transformed into the very best Orcia DOC wine possible. Carlo is pure Tuscan, with a sparkling and humorous personality as warm as the sun.

Isabella, a big-city girl from Milan who speaks four languages, fell in love with Carlo when she came as a guest herself to his family's agriturismo, Cretaiole. Soon she traded her high heels and business suits for what she says is the "real" dolce vita, living within the natural rhythms of nature and savoring the basic values of life. Isa has traveled the world and completely and thoroughly loves to be with people from different countries and cultures. She channels her "creative, ball–of–fire, Type–A" personality into her life's work, meeting the many needs of her guests and making certain they have an experience they will never forget. She is passionate, engaging, accommodating, and entertaining.

Carlo and Isabella live with their two boys, Niccolò and Filippo, at the Moricciani family farm—Podere San Gregorio—in Pienza, just 10 minutes away. Niccolò goes to middle school in Pienza, and Filippo is still a toddler. Their home is co–located with that of Carlo's parents, Luciano and Liliana Moricciani. They welcome you to visit their farm and enjoy tastings of the fine food, wine, and olive oil that is produced on their farm.
