As you can see from the temperatures above, the weather is usually moderate year-round. Some evenings may be cool and breezy, so you may want to bring a sweater or windbreaker. Summer clothing such as t-shirts, casual pants and dresses are fine for the summer months and are appropriate almost everywhere. A cap or hat is also a good idea to protect your face from the sun. Bring clothes that you can layer so you can adjust for your comfort throughout the day or from day-to-day.
We are occasionally asked if “July and August are bad months to visit Italy because it is too hot or because all the Italians are on vacation and so nothing is open?” These perceptions are unfounded—and in fact, I would encourage people who want an authentic experience to come to Italy during these months for the reason that these myths are so widely accepted! During this period of the summer, the areas that cater to tourists remain open, and there are more Italian tourists around than international tourists. It is much less hectic than in May and September—and the weather is excellent—there are fewer rainy days, more long days of sunshine, and it is a wonderful time to be in Tuscany. Even though the temperatures are summer temperatures, the air conditioning will make your stay at Casa Moricciani very comfortable.
